Have you ever wanted a runway-ready dress without the price tag or burden of owning it? Especially when it may just get a wear, or two. Armarium is the solution to both of these issues, providing customers with the benefit of wearing the best of the best underpinned by the seamless logistics of rental. We chatted with co-founder Trisha Gregory on the start up that may be one of the most sustainable options out there.
ARMARIUM IS DISRUPTING LUXURY FASHION THROUGH RENTAL. HOW DID THE IDEA COME ABOUT AND HOW DID YOU IDENTIFY A GAP IN THE MARKET?
We wanted to launch something in the shared economy that would further the market and support luxury brands by introducing customers to their seasonal statement looks that were often on the runways or in the sample closets, but loaned to only VIPs or editors for shoots. We knew we wanted to give people access to those pieces, ideally, on a one-time basis. They introduce you to the dream of the brand and the seasonal message, but are hard to wear on repeat as they are so noticeable!
WHAT IS THE WHY AND HEART OF AMARIUM?
As fashion insiders in the industry, we have access to so many statement pieces that we see on the runway, but don’t make it into production. We want to give women a new kind of access to the luxury world and introduce them to new designers, as well as statement pieces, that are not typically accessible in the market.
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND, AND HOW DOES THAT INFORM WHAT YOU’RE DOING NOW?
I was the Head of Communications at Ferragamo for 10 years so I came at Armarium from a brand perspective.
WHAT IS ONE KEY LEARNING FROM START UP LIFE?
Learning to prioritize! Each day is filled with different tasks and opportunities. With a small team and small budget, it’s important to focus!
THE RENTAL SPACE IS A GREAT MEANS FOR CONSUMERS TO SHOP CONSCIOUSLY. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS IMPORTANT TODAY?
It can be less intimidating to try a statement piece at 10-20% of the retail price for a fun occasion, rather that throw down $2,500 or $4,000 for a statement jacket or gown.

WHERE DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY HEADING?
There are so many innovative concepts that are coming out that complement traditional retail, such as rental, online consignment, etc. Technology will enable more concepts to roll out that will further enhance customer service and support the established and emerging brands in getting their product and message to the customer more efficiently. It’s an exciting time to be in the industry!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARMARIUM?
Armarium will continue to grow our customer base online and will focus regional growth with continued pop-ups in various markets such as Dallas, Chicago, Palm Beach, and even abroad! We are excited to bring on more luxury brands for the fall season and will continue to source the best stylists to add to our Style Brigade, to create the ultimate service.
